What the Economics exam contains

Cambridge International AS & A Level Economics (9708), on the 2026 to 2028 syllabus, has four papers. The AS Level is Paper 1 (30 multiple-choice questions, 1 hour) and Paper 2 (a data response question and two essays, 2 hours). The full A Level adds Paper 3 (30 multiple-choice questions on the A Level topics, 1 hour 15 minutes) and Paper 4 (data response and essays, 2 hours). The course covers markets and prices, government intervention, the macroeconomy and international trade, and at A Level adds market structures, the labour market, development and globalisation.
