What the Maths exam contains
Cambridge International AS & A Level Mathematics (9709), on the 2026 and 2027 syllabus, has six papers to choose from: Pure Mathematics 1, 2 and 3 (Papers 1 to 3), Mechanics (Paper 4), and Probability & Statistics 1 and 2 (Papers 5 and 6). An AS Level is two papers: Pure Mathematics 1 plus one of Pure Mathematics 2, Mechanics or Probability & Statistics 1. An A Level is four: Pure Mathematics 1 and 3, Probability & Statistics 1, and either Mechanics or Probability & Statistics 2. Papers 1 and 3 last 1 hour 50 minutes; the others last 1 hour 15 minutes.
