What the Chemistry exam contains
Cambridge IGCSE Chemistry (0620), on the 2026 to 2028 syllabus, has three exams. Core students sit Paper 1 (45 minutes of multiple choice) and Paper 3 (a 1 hour 15 minute theory paper) and can reach grades C to G. Extended students sit the matching Papers 2 and 4 and can reach A* to G. Everyone also sits one practical paper: the Practical Test in the lab (Paper 5, 1 hour 15 minutes) or the written Alternative to Practical (Paper 6, 1 hour). Topics include states of matter, bonding, moles, electrochemistry, energy changes, reactions, acids and salts, the Periodic Table, metals, the environment, organic chemistry and chemical analysis.
